We keep Linear-compatible gate brackets, hinge mounts, and operator frame components on our Fresno trucks, and most welding and fabrication work on Linear gates in Fresno runs between $220 and $480 installed, depending on what failed and how much metal needs rebuilding. We can usually reach your gate within one business day, sometimes the same afternoon if we’re already working near your neighborhood. Here’s the typical picture: the gate starts dragging or sagging, a wheel bracket keeps loosening, or the operator stays bolted on but the gate itself wobbles at the weld points. Owners usually notice it first as a gate that closed easily for years and now needs a nudge every few days.
We’re an independent gate repair company in Fresno, not affiliated with Linear, but we factory-train our technicians on Linear swing and slide gate openers because so many Fresno driveways run on them. The welding and fabrication side of Linear work is rarely about the motor itself. It’s about the steel that carries the gate, and that steel takes a beating in the Central Valley. Dry heat, alkaline soil dust, and the constant temperature swings between summer afternoons and valley nights all work on metal. What we see most often is a bracket that was welded to spec years ago finally giving way because the gate shifted a quarter inch, added load to one side, and the weld took the strain.
Which Linear Models This Applies To
Linear gate operators span several series, and the welding work differs by gate type. The most common in Fresno are the Linear Swing Gate Operators (LS series, like the LS3000), Linear Slide Gate Operators (SL and GDO series), and the newer entry models in the Linear PRO series used for residential and light commercial gates. The operator model matters less for fabrication than the gate itself: a swing gate with Linear arms needs solid hinge post welds and a secure operator mounting plate; a slide gate needs level roller brackets, a straight track, and a welded receiver or stop post at the closed end.
Identifying what’s on your gate is the first step. Look for the operator ID tag on the side or underside of the gray or tan control box, which lists the model and serial. But the bracket or hinge that needs welding won’t be on that tag. Check the metal arms, corner braces, or wheel mounts themselves. If you see a crack, rust bloom around a weld point, or a bolt hole that has wallowed out, that’s our repair location regardless of which Linear model drives the gate.
For Linear specifically, we recommend OEM brackets and hinge plates when the gate needs an exact fit on an LS3000 arm or a Linear slide rail. On non-proprietary steel like a gate’s corner gussets or a receiver post base, a quality aftermarket weld-and-repair is usually the better value because the steel itself, not the Linear part number, is what matters. We will tell you which applies and quote it before touching a welder.

Signs Your Linear Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags at the outer corner. The hinge post welds have shifted or the post itself has moved, so the gate’s far edge now sits lower. That added sag means the Linear operator’s arm works against gravity every cycle.
- One wheel bracket keeps loosening. On a Linear slide gate, a bolt that needs tightening every few weeks means the bracket hole has wallowed out or the bracket itself is bending. Tightening it repeatedly is a temporary fix; the metal needs repair or a re-fabricated mount.
- The operator pulls away from the gate or post. The mounting plate bolts are still tight, but the plate’s weld to the post has cracked. You may hear a thud or rattle right when the Linear motor starts and stops.
- You see rust lines seeping from a weld joint. The weld has let moisture in along the seam. In Fresno, winter fog and the summer irrigation overspray accelerate this, and a weeping joint means the weld’s internal bond is already compromised.
- The gate moves left or right before it starts opening. The operator’s linear arm or chain bracket has play at its pivot or weld point. The motor is still fine; the fabricated connection between motor and gate is failing.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For Linear gate welding and fabrication work in Fresno, our most common repairs fall into these ranges based on what we see around town:
- Hinge re-weld or bracket reinforcement: $220 – $340
- Slide gate wheel bracket replacement with re-fabricated mount: $260 – $400
- Operator mounting plate removal and re-weld with reinforcement: $280 – $480
- Gate corner gusset repair or post base plate replacement: $300 – $450
Every quote includes the steel or replacement bracket, the welding labor, a rust treatment on the surrounding area, and primer or paint touch-up to match. You will see the written price before we start any work. What moves a job from the low end to the high end of each range is how much cutting-out needs to happen before new metal goes in, and whether the gate has to come off its hinges to do the repair properly. Gates with decorative cladding or enclosed frames run slightly higher because the welded area has to be reached from behind the cover panels.
The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the weld and the bracket work for a full year. If it fails again in that window, we make it right at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
There is a line between what you can inspect and what should be welded by someone who has done this work for years. You can safely check for the visible signs: rust at the joints, a sagging corner, a bolt hole that looks oval instead of round. What you shouldn’t do is grind, reweld, or heat a gate bracket that holds a spring-loaded hinge or any assembly under tension on a Linear operator arm. Getting that wrong can turn a worn bracket into a cracked frame or, worse, an uncontrolled gate swing if a hinge pin lets go. We’d rather you call and let one of our techs make that call.
Also, welding on a gate that still has its Linear control board connected invites a different kind of problem. Stray weld current can travel through the gate into the operator and damage the board. Part of our prep is isolating the motor and electronics before the welder ever powers up. That step alone saves Fresno homeowners from a $180 add-on repair.
If I can show you what wore out and explain why, you can decide what makes sense – that is really all this visit needs to accomplish. Call (559) 785-2501 and we’ll come out and put eyes on it.
FAQs
A properly welded hinge bracket or receiver mount on a Linear gate in Fresno typically lasts 8 to 15 years, depending on how often the gate cycles and how close irrigation overspray sits to the steel. The original welds on many gates installed in the early 2000s along the tree-lined streets near the Tower District are just now hitting the end of that window. Give us a call at (559) 785-2501 and we can tell you what yours looks like.
Most cracked Linear gate brackets can be re-welded with a reinforcement plate, which saves the original hardware and the cost of a new OEM part. The exception is a bracket that has already bent or twisted; once the shape is gone, rewelding the crack won’t stop the gate from sitting wrong. Call (559) 785-2501 for an honest take.
Most bracket and hinge welding on Linear gates takes between 90 minutes and three hours on site, including setup, the weld itself, cool-down, and the rust treatment and paint touch-up. If the gate has to be lifted off and re-hung, it’ll be on the longer end. We arrive with a specific plan and a written price before the first weld.
We stock the common Linear arm brackets, hinge plates, receiver mounts, and slide gate wheel brackets on our Fresno trucks, plus grinders, MIG welding gear, and the matching paint and primer. We also keep parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls gates on board, so the piece we need is usually the piece we already brought. If you’d rather confirm before we roll, call (559) 785-2501 and describe what’s on your gate.
If your Linear gate is sagging, rattling, or pulling loose at the welds, call Latch and Post Gate Repair Fresno at (559) 785-2501. Cody Beckman and the crew will come out, show you exactly what wore out, and give you a written price before any work starts.
