We stock, match, and install welding and fabrication components for Elite gate systems throughout Fresno, with most repairs landing between $185 and $460 installed. If your Elite gate has a cracked weld, a snapped brace, or a post pulling loose from its footing, we can typically have a technician out the same day with the right steel, the right welder, and a written price before any work begins. Most Fresno owners discover the failure the same way: the gate starts dragging on one corner, or a hinge tears free with a sound like a slow car accident. You’ll usually see the damage before you hear it, but by the time a weld fails, the gate is already putting stress on the motor and the post, and that stress only compounds.
Latch & Post Gate Repair is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Elite. We carry Elite-compatible fabrication parts on our trucks alongside components for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls, so the parts conversation usually happens right in your driveway.
Which Elite Models This Applies To
Elite gate systems span a few distinct lines, and the fabrication requirements differ between them. The SL-3000 and SL-5000 slide gate operators, for example, use a steel drive rail that bolts or welds to the gate frame, while the Elite swing gate openers mount to a fabricated steel post bracket that has to be true to within a fraction of an inch or the whole gate binds. The Mirage and Viking-style Elite arms need a reinforced mounting plate, and older Elite models from the early 2000s often have galvanized frames that require a different welding rod than powder-coated steel.
Identifying your part is the first thing we do on site. Look for a model plate on the operator itself, usually on the side of the housing. If the plate is faded or gone, we measure the gate frame tubing, note whether it is galvanized or powder-coated, and check the hinge post diameter. That tells us whether you need standard fabrication or a custom bracket. For Elite specifically, we recommend OEM brackets and braces where they exist because the hole spacing and reinforcement ribs are matched to the actuator geometry. Quality aftermarket steel, cut and welded locally, works well for frame repairs and post reinforcement, and we will tell you plainly which makes sense for your gate before we cut anything.

Signs Your Elite Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags at the latch end by half an inch or more. This almost always means a weld at the hinge post or mid-rail has begun to crack. The steel fatigues slowly, and the gate starts to lean before it fails outright.
- You can see daylight through a seam that used to be tight. A hairline crack in a weld or a fabricated brace means the joint is no longer carrying load. In Fresno heat, the daily expansion and contraction widens these cracks faster than you’d expect.
- The gate shudders or hops during the last foot of travel. A broken or loose fabrication point, often the drive rail or a support gusset, causes the gate to bind just as the opener finishes its cycle.
- A hinge bolt hole has wallowed into an oval. The bracket held, but the bolt has been grinding the hole wider for months. This is a fabrication fix, not a new-bolt fix, because the surrounding steel is now compromised.
- The gate post leans visibly at the top. In many Fresno yards, especially older neighborhoods near Woodward Park with established trees and shifting soil, the post footing has moved and the fabrication that once held the post straight is now fighting the ground and losing.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For Elite welding and fabrication work in Fresno, most owners pay between $185 and $460 installed. A straight weld repair on a cracked frame member, with grinding and cleanup, typically runs $185 to $260. Fabricating and welding a new hinge bracket, including steel and primer, lands between $260 and $385. If the post has shifted and we need to cut out the old fabrication, reset the post, and weld new reinforcement, the total can push to $460 or slightly beyond depending on how much concrete work the footing requires.
The price you are quoted is the price on the invoice, and we put it in writing before we touch anything. That number includes the steel, the welding rod, the grinding, the clean-up, and shoe covers and drop cloths wherever the work takes us near or inside your home. Every repair is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the fabrication or repair is not right, we make it right, no argument.

DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things without touching a welder. Look for visible cracks, measure the gate’s sag with a level, and push gently on the post to see if it moves. Those observations help us quote accurately over the phone. What you should not do is attempt to weld a gate frame or bracket yourself unless you are a trained welder. A gate under spring tension, a post holding several hundred pounds of steel, or a joint that fails while someone is walking through is not the place to learn stick welding. Cody Beckman, who grew up in the San Gabriel Valley and spent two years in the welding and fabrication program at Cerritos College before he ever touched a gate motor, will tell you the same thing: steel under load does not forgive a cold weld. Call (559) 785-2501 and we will put eyes on it, give you a written number, and fix it right the first time.
FAQs
A properly done weld on an Elite gate frame lasts 12 to 20 years in Fresno’s dry heat, with the main enemies being ground moisture at the post base and vibration from the opener. We see welds fail early most often when the post footing was undersized or the gate was never rebalanced after the original fabrication. Call (559) 785-2501 for an inspection.
Most cracked welds and fractured braces on Elite gates can be repaired by grinding out the old joint, re-welding, and reinforcing the surrounding steel. Replacement of a full frame section is usually only necessary when the steel itself has rusted thin from the inside, which we see occasionally on older galvanized gates that sat in sprinkler overspray for years.
Most single-joint welding repairs on an Elite gate in Fresno take between one and two hours on site. Fabricating a new bracket or resetting a post adds time, but we quote the full job and the time window before we start, and we leave the work area swept and photographed before we go.
Yes, we carry common Elite-compatible bracket blanks, hinge steel, and welding rod on our trucks for same-day repair on most models. Custom fabrication that needs to match an unusual post size or gate profile is cut and welded within a day or two, and we tell you the timeline before you approve anything.
